Common Elements in My Negative Feelings about Writing:
I mean, it’s just the overwhelm really, right? I kind of only have that one negative feeling. I guess I think those drafts are garbage because I have a high standard for myself or whatever, but that’s about the product, not the process. I’m good at writing and I like doing it and I have anxiety and paralysis over revising. I don’t think there’s a lot more to tease out there.
Lessons to Be Learned from my Positive Experiences of Writing:
I love the way I pull ideas together from all of my notes and organize them into something that flows and makes sense. Maybe if I transform my perception of revision into an extension of that process, I won’t find it so overwhelming. (I mean, it is an extension of that process, but for some reason I viscerally think of it as a whole other thing.
