Fellow academics, do you have a writerly identity? I told my artist BFF my 1st diss draft was garbage & she said “Lol so writing like art has garbage stages” & I thought “But my diss isn’t, like, WRITING writing.” Pretty silly way to think of my 50000-word creative work.

I have decided to go all-in on Star Trek. Especially TNG of course, but for the time being, I’m making Trek writ large my primary fandom.

I’m not saying I’m just saying I kind of wish the Season 2 finale of Picard would be Picard and Q’s wedding is all. 🖖🏻📺

I’ve always been resentful of the trope where girls have to pretend to be boys to get stuff done, but Natalie Zutter’s piece about Leia disguising herself as Boushh especially the part about Padme subverting it, is a welcome fresh perspective. 🍿🔖

Improv as community/business/cult has a lot of problems that would require a radical new model to fix but improv as playful art form taught me a lot about the openness to unexpected conversation & skill for listening that Austin Kleon writes about here. 🔖
