Katherine Taylor’s essay, I Am Not a Robot, explores Data’s value as a stand-in for autistic people. It also gets at how all kinds of neurodivergent or other disabled people might see themselves in him. It beautifully explains all the things that make him my favorite.

I have a lot of thank yous to catch up on, and I will. But in the meantime, I highly recommend having most of your best friends at your dissertation defense if you can. It makes the whole thing celebratory.

This really does feel like waiting to go to the hospital to be induced. I hope the dissertation defense involves less back labor.
