My toddler napped in the car outside the Montessori/co-working space for an hour and a half; meanwhile, I reviewed 3 articles for my comps lit review. We got inside and as soon as I was settled in front of my laptop, I renewed my vehicle registration, paid his tuition, and contacted furniture movers for an estimate. I deserve a high five.

It says something about how I engage with culture that two days after a new show’s release I expect to be able to track down full-fledged fan communities. Where is fandomΒ  anyway? Tumblr?

Velvet Chain

TFW you need to dig out your CD binder so you can take the official Buffy soundtrack that's been in your car's CD player for two and a half years out only to replace it with Velvet Chain's Buffy EP.

This twenty-year-old bit from Wanda Sykes has taken on new meaning since I became a parent (she said posting from her bed at 3:30 am because why sleep if your kid is just going to wake up screaming every 30 minutes?).

I’ll look you in the eye when I say he’s worth it, though.

My 2018 Reading Challenge

My reading challenge for 2018 has two components:

  1. Always be trying to read one more book than I have already read this year.

  2. Read whatever feels good to read and will make me want to keep reading.

That's it.

More on the rationale behind these rules later.

I really like the idea “Begin as you mean to continue.” Today I lazed about in bed with W & our baby M, migrated to a new #bulletjournal, brunched with family, ate well, played video games, texted a friend, took a monster nap, cooked dinner (canned Amy’s organic soup + Udi’s dinner rolls), bathed the baby, and took a shower. It was a holiday and rest day, so I didn’t work or exercise. Those will come later, as will better hydration. But I’m very happy with how the day has gone. Now to get ready for bed and do some pleasure reading!
